The Hindu Vocab : Part 2


Passage 1

As the team leader, her intrinsic sense of responsibility made her subservient to the needs of her colleagues. With alacrity, she tackled each task, recognizing the pivotal role she played in the project's success. Despite initial apprehension, she entered the meeting room with determination, ready to annihilate any doubts about their strategy. Each discussion felt like an egress from uncertainty, guiding them towards a clearer path forward. Though some decisions seemed dubious at first, her confidence and expertise ultimately steered the team towards achievement.

Passage 2

With intrinsic determination and alacrity, she approached the pivotal moment. Every step felt like an egress from the past, ready to annihilate doubts and embrace the future. Despite the dubious nature of her decision, she moved forward with unwavering resolve, knowing that only by taking risks could she truly thrive.


1) Intrinsic (Adj) - inherent, innate, inborn. (Intrinsic means extremely important also, science is an intrinsic part of the school syllabus.)


2) Subservient (Adj) - compliant, obedient, submissive, ready to obey others without question.  - You are expected to be subservient to your parents.


3) Alacrity (Noun) - eagerness, readiness


4) Pivotal (Adj) - crucial, important, of great importance 


5) Apprehension (Noun) - worry or fear that something bad will happen


6) Annihilate (Verb) - to destroy completely, to obliterate (Bombs annihilated the town.  Noun form - annihilation - threat of nuclear annihilation)


7) Egress / Egression (Noun) - exit, leaving a place


8) Dubious (Adj) - doubtful 


9) Expertise (Noun) - skill or knowledge in a particular field 


10) Steer (Verb) - to control or guide the direction 


11 ) Achievement (Noun) - success, feat


12) Embrace (Verb) - accept something happily (Embrace someone means to hold someone lovingly. But embarrassed means feeling ashamed.)


13) Unwavering (Adj) - steady, resolute, with firm determination 


14) Resolve (Noun) - decision, resolution 


15) Thrive (Verb) - to be successful
